Is anybody else loving this gorgeous spring weather? The lack of April showers has given our contractors a chance to make serious beautification progress at The Brook! A typical day at The Brook currently consists of 5-10 various beautification crews, 20-30 vehicles on site and an orchestra of heavy equipment and machinery. While this may sound crazy and chaotic to some, it’s music to our ears! Most importantly, we can’t wait to update our space descriptions on the website with these new beauties. Almost every area of The Brook has seen some sort of transformation thus far. The Chapel, The Pavilion, The Gathering Hall, all of the accommodations, The Social Hall and The Beauty Sweet! Come take a peak!
When chatting beautification, you knew where we had to start. The bridal suite, aka the “beauty sweet”, is nearing completion, and we could not be more amazed at how this space looks. When we began our initial design process for The Beauty Sweet, we knew we wanted it bright, elegant and functional. Since our last update, you can see that our beautiful light oak floors are fully installed. (Yes they’re laminate, and yes they’re awesome). We’ve had a lot of people ask, so if interested you can check out the floor here.
Speaking of beautification, check out this almost completed vanity! We went with quartz on these counters so they’re functional AND pretty for your big day. These super sweet mirrors actually have a built in light that can be adjusted to the perfect brightness and color.
We know better than most how hectic wedding day can be, so a bar designed for mimosas was a must! Ok, it’s not specifically for mimosas, but picture toasting a little bubbly with the gals here. Can you see it?
Last but not least, the fire place! We were back and fourth on our thoughts here, but we couldn’t be happier with the white wash look. We also replaced the old, um, functional mantle with a new beauty that matched the surroundings.
The Sycamore Social hall has made some HUGE strides in the last few months. Our “grooms suite” was designed with the speakeasy vibe in mind! We don’t advocate using it as a hiding spot, but if you need to get away, it’s not a bad place to be. The idea here was to use the awesome concrete floor, wooden columns and concrete counter tops to create a modern industrial feel. The foundation of this vision started and ended with the floors…get it. Ha. Ok moving on. We opted for a polished/resurfaced all natural concrete look and Chad’s Refinishing knocked it out of the park! A week was spent grinding, sanding and buffing this once neglected floor. Check out this time lapse video to see the transformation!
If you’re going to be a speakeasy, you have to have that dark, moody thing going on right? We opted for a darker blue paint on the walls called Gale Force by Sherwin Williams and it absolutely rocks!
To complete this hidden bar vibe, we wanted a decorative and dark ceiling with updated lighting to really set the mood. There’s still some work to do to finalize the tiles, but the lights are in and it really illuminated our vision for this space…ok done, seriously. Those old fluorescent lights served their purpose, but see ya never. Stay tuned as we finish the ceiling this week. (It’s a drop ceiling but shhhhh don’t tell anyone. You can’t tell I promise!)
Ahhh The Chapel! The space where many tears will be shed, two become one and life long memories will be made. This was a space that needed to be addressed, but we were never quite sure how. The old chapel served a purpose, and we’re forever grateful for your service. It was time to modernize and design a space that was meant to highlight our amazing couples on their big day! What does every great wedding ceremony space need? A gorgeous backdrop! Ok, check got that. Also, an amazing aisle! A 70 foot stamped concrete aisle to be exact. We found a pattern that we loved, and chose a dark gray color to compliment our river rocked landscaping (more to come on that!). Come take a walk with me, and Millie, so you can visualize first hand the path of a bride, very soon, to be!
No need to panic! They’re not actually on fire, but in the words of Paris Hilton, that’s hot. When people ask us what our style or vibe is at The Brook, we tell them, we’re not fancy, we’re not elegant, we’re not rustic, we’re not vintage, we’re not traditional, we’re adventurous modern! Now what’s that mean? We don’t really know to be honest, but it seemed to fit our venue design perfectly. Our goal was to blend all of the natural, beautiful qualities of the outdoors with the simple, clean styles of modern building design. The sleek look and feel of the metal roofs was a must to pull this off! You can find these metallic beauties on our shower house, storage shed and The Gathering Hall. A lot of beautification inspiration came from a stunning venue in Indiana. Our roofs were no exception.
We are your biggest fans, but these Big A** Fans definitely gave us a run for our money! Why the need for these ginormous fans you may ask? If we told you that the high on our wedding day was 94 degrees, would that help? In order to mitigate the sweat soaked reception we had, we thought a couple of fans couldn’t hurt. These two babies can absolutely crank out some air, which should keep the bride from “shimmering” and those groomsmen from sweating through their snazzy suits.
Oh, and btw, if you hadn’t noticed, we have a new ceiling! You may remember seeing a sound proof insulation covering our expansive ceiling. Or you may have blocked it out of your memory because it was so ugly. Needless to say, the term beautification and those roofs were just not going to coexist. This stunning white metal was our final choice, and it came out perfect!
