Why’d we Buy a Wedding Venue?

Well, here we go!

What a whirlwind of events that has lead us to this point of bringing you all The Brook. For those of you that don’t know my wife Chloe and I, we thought we’d start with everyone’s favorite blog post, a list! It’s a long and complex story of how we became involved with The Brook, but everything is easily boiled down in a list.

5. Seclusion

When touring other spaces for our own wedding, one thing that always stood out was the lack of privacy for the events. The downtown spaces were on top of one another, and the more rural places had weird time restrictions. We never knew how important and valuable it was for our wedding to have the ability to relax, and enjoy the peace and quite of a secluded space with our loved ones, until it happened!

4. Fun

So we’ve got this space, but what do when we’re there?! Oh, we swim, hike, play, ball, explore and enjoy! Since we are both active people, it only made sense to have a wedding venue that kept our guests engaged and the mundane non existent. The opportunity to host our guests all weekend paired perfectly with all of the activities to enjoy with our loved ones. The wide array was perfect for everyone from the kiddos, to the party animals to the grandparents. While the pool wasn’t open for ours, it will be starting Spring 2021!

3. On-Site Accommodations

We have the space, we have the activities, now where do people stay when they need some shut eye? Oh, right here! Now we looked at multiple rural venues in our area, and they all lacked one necessary amenity. LODGING! Many of our guests came from out of town and many of them chose to enjoy an adult beverage or two. Both of these variables lead to tricky logistics with hotels 20 minutes away or expensive shuttles. Having the ability to host a large number of guests on-site was truly a game changer for our experience!

2. Natural Beauty

Now this is the one that’s tough to put into words! We have both lived in central Ohio all of our lives, and stunning natural beauty with ravines, cliffs and ridges is not something we see often. It was apparent right away, this place is different, and this place is absolutely beautiful. At the center of it all, was of course, the slate lined brook that inspired the name. Standing on the Sycamore Shack deck or down near the massive slate ridge has a tendency to leave you speechless. Whenever we have new guests, there’s always one common statement, The Brook is gorgeous.

1. THE PEOPLE!

Most people that know Chloe and I, know one thing, we’re people, people. (? grammar) Now neither of us had any formal experience in the wedding space or event world, but we both have a passion for hosting and making others happy through hospitality. This is uncharted territory, and a little bit scary, but the opportunity to meet and interact with all of you is what drives us to bring The Brook to life. We have met some incredible people already, but we have a feeling there are many, many more out there. Whether at a wedding, gathering or a public experience, we can’t wait to host you!
